Every year, the Mothers’ Union unites globally in a continuous chain of prayer known as the Wave of Prayer—an expression of unwavering commitment to support one another in faith and mission. For over 100 years, this unbroken circle of prayer has offered spiritual strength to communities across the world.

On 30th and 31st July, it is the turn of the Carlisle Diocese to be lifted in prayer, alongside our linked dioceses: Boga (DR Congo), Manicaland (Zimbabwe), Ogoni (Nigeria), Melbourne (Australia), and Tanga (Tanzania).

The service includes readings, prayers, hymns, and moments of reflection, centred on Jesus’ command to “Love the Lord your God” and “Love your neighbour as yourself” (Mark 12:28–31). It is a heartfelt recommitment to unity, service, and the shared vision of transforming lives through love and faith.

A highlight of the service is the collective offering of the Mothers’ Union Prayer, as members across the globe commit themselves anew to the mission of strengthening families and communities in God’s love.

The service closes in joyful celebration, reminding us that truly “He’s got the whole world in His hands”—including each of our dioceses and every member of our global MU family.
