Over 30 members gathered on a sunny day at Preston Patrick Memorial Hall for a meaningful Sharing Day of worship, fellowship, and learning.
We began with opening worship, a reflection from Oscar Romero, and a reminder of our shared identity as a Family for Hope. Encouraging news followed: our membership stands at 784, with growth in some areas, despite a few branch closures.
We heard from several excellent speakers throughout the day:
Claire Markey from Bridgeway Sexual Abuse Support outlined how to respond when someone discloses abuse: listen, encourage, and be there.
Jane Conlan spoke about modern slavery and trafficking, sharing signs to look out for and how the Church is responding through the Clewer Initiative.
Kelly Jackson from Springfield Women’s Refuge described their growing work supporting both women and men fleeing domestic abuse.
Julie Clayton, CEO of Eden Valley Hospice, encouraged us to talk more openly about death and shared how their care supports people at all stages of life.
The day also included practical sessions, resource sharing, and updates on future plans—including building stronger links with the Diocese and youth-focused work.
We left feeling informed, inspired, and united in our mission.
